1.4 Verify the citation

Open the original source and confirm that it actually supports the claim.

When AI says 'According to the World Bank…', that is not verification. Find the original source.

Check that the source exists, contains the claimed information, means what the AI says it means, and has not been replaced by newer evidence. Prefer primary sources: official statistics, original research, official policy documents and programme monitoring or evaluation evidence.

4 — CITATION: Never trust a reference simply because it looks credible.
